Well I *still* have not gotten back out on the track, but I have been gently 'testing' the car around the canyons here, and it's running great. The only major task left to be track-ready is installing the new fire system, which I already bought but is still in the box. In the Emory outlaw display tent at Rennsport 6 Recent shots in the mountains near here on Piuma Road @campbellcj One of the best looking 914's of all time. Do you find that muffler restrictive? I think we may have talked mufflers before... |

1975 1.8L, almost 100k miles, it was a demonstrator, I bought it for ~$5300 about 47 years ago. Always maintained. New rubber all around strengthened and quieted the ride. New tires. Engine and tranny are strong. Solved a fuel leak years ago, now the problems are electronic ground faults and rust. Love my 914! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smlove2.gif)
My other car. Parts of this 1970 1.7L are in the back yard. |

@campbellcj One of the best looking 914's of all time. Do you find that muffler restrictive? I think we may have talked mufflers before... @Justinp71 Thanks much for the kind words! The car runs fabulously with this Dansk/PMS RSR muffler except it sometimes bogs a bit at low revs which I think's mainly cuz my carbs are set up for open megaphones. It's a heavy SOB but looks and sounds very Porsche-like and I love it. That said the car pulls noticeably harder and sounds even better with the megaphones... I have only ever dynoed it w/ open pipes so no hard numbers. In the older Rennsport shot it had an early-gen M&K which I still have in storage. It's way lighter and sounds really throaty but I currently prefer the Dansk overall. Previously I had a Triad for a short time as well as a 1-out Dansk. Here's another angle from that same spot on Piuma, one of many fun but kinda sketchy roads around here (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/live.staticflickr.com-21-1721740607.1.jpg) |

Hi all
I am new to the forum and have very recently purchased a 1972 1700 fuel injected 914. I am very lucky to get this one as although it looks ratty paint wise, it is exceedingly solid and has lots of money spent by previous owners. This is a dream come true for me. I am currently awaiting new seat covers , carpet set and steering wheel restoration kit but will be out enjoying this at the earliest opportunity. I have had VW Beetles, Camper and currently also own a 1967 Fastback. Thanks for looking Chris |

I am jealous of your crack free dashboard too. Chris |

Love the Riviera wheels I have them on my VW Fastback although I have strippedcthd black paint from the spokes. I am learning much about these too. A dream come true. Chris |

Let’s see your babies, 914’s only please! We really don’t care what kind of POS water-cooled you drive. Unless it’s a 914 V-8 conversion of course! Sorry our pic is a bit crappy. Mark & Kim Henry, Port Hope, Ontario, Canada Hey, I found and bought this "tribute?" Gulf Oil Porsche in Coarsegold, CA. It is my first 914. At least it used to be a 914. I know, the front end is enough to get me banned from this site. Came with a ton of extra parts and extra transmission. Why this car? Because the builder of this car put his heart and soul into creating it. The chassis has near zero rust (hell hole was a heaven hole). Never seen a track day. Pretty much everything you can do a 71 914-4 has been done and more. Best of all, it is street legal and currently registered. The rear bumper was for DMV reg. I don't like it. I was told it weighs just over 1200 lbs. After my first test drive, I understand why Porsche limited engine output to 85 hp. The cornering ability gives the driver a sense of invincibility. The 901 trans leave much to be desired. That's the craziest shift pattern ever. Wife isn't happy AT ALL. lol Sacramento [attachmentid=924 146] Attached image(s) |
