An EA code engine is a 1.7L engine from 1972-73.
The 1.7s were W codes until 72, when they changed to EA code 1.7Ls. An EA code engine in a 1970 car would not be original. |

On my fourth fourteen but new to the forum. I will be hitting you guys
up for advice on improving the looks and performance of my car. Bought it this past summer pretty much as is. I am having most all of the wood upolstered as it is very nice but not really in the spirit of a 914(IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~ihatemyboss/914-228.jpg) (IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~ihatemyboss/914-134.jpg) |

Hey.. WELCOME (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)
We watched the car on Ebay back in the summer. We didnt really like the interior but had respect for the amount of effort involved to make it happen. Nice car. B |

75boxster,
Welcome to the board! I remember the thread about your car when it was on ebay. I'm not a big fan of the wood, but it does like someone put a lot of effort into it. The car looks really nice. It's a /6 isn't it? Original or conversion? |

Nice car, I like the yellow. Before covering the wood with upholstery, be sure and have it inspected for wood bore beetles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
Seriously very nice, I rember alot of guys on the board either loved or didn't. You got a very nice car. CCLINWOODIEWORLD |

The guy lied about a few things in the auction but what can you
do. Motor was advertised as a 2.4/4 cylinder. Wrong, 100mm pistons with stock stroke. More like 2.1x. Heads were not ported and polished as advertised and the motor was crap. Crank bearing shot, no oil pressure and had water rot in the cylinders so they had very little compression. I pulled the motor and had it rebuilt by a shop in Denver. Now it really is a 2.4. 104mm pistons with stock stroke. Heads completely redone with all new pieces. Mild Web .423. They told me at 2.4 the Weber 40's would struggle on the top so I moved up to 44's. Changed the ignition over to a pertronix with an Mallory, MSD style muli-spark unit. Should run tons better than it did. Lights in the center console are the idiot lights that were in the stock instrument cluster. Most of those will be put back in the cluster before the interior gets modified. (IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~ihatemyboss/dcp00567.JPG) |

Here's my '73 w/'75 2.0. Picked her up a couple years ago from an autoxer. I thrash her on Palomar Mt on a regular basis.
