QUOTE(75boxster @ Jan 3 2004, 02:26 PM)
The guy lied about a few things in the auction but what can you
do. Motor was advertised as a 2.4/4 cylinder. Wrong, 100mm
pistons with stock stroke. More like 2.1x. Heads were not
ported and polished as advertised and the motor was crap.
Crank bearing shot, no oil pressure and had water rot in the
cylinders so they had very little compression. I pulled the motor
and had it rebuilt by a shop in Denver. Now it really is a 2.4. 104mm
pistons with stock stroke. Heads completely redone with all new pieces.
Mild Web .423. They told me at 2.4 the Weber 40's would struggle on the
top so I moved up to 44's. Changed the ignition over to a pertronix with
an Mallory, MSD style muli-spark unit. Should run tons better than it did.
Lights in the center console are the idiot lights that were in the stock
instrument cluster. Most of those will be put back in the cluster before
the interior gets modified.

(IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~ihatemyboss/dcp00567.JPG)

Who built the motor? Painters? G&G (they did the long block in mine).

Are you going to put the interior back to stock? You can probably find some of the pricier parts at the upcoming Carquip swap in February (guages, center console, etc)

I have a black backpad that is nearly perfect as well.

It was Painters that helped me out with the motor. I have yet to run the motor
but I cannot say enough positive things about the people down there. Everyone
there was a class act. The customer service was awesome. As far as the auction
in February, where can I find out when exactly and where. I plan on just upolstering
the door panel. With the power window buttons and power mirror adjustment switch
I am thinking the thin factory coverings minght not hold up so well. Dash will get the stock
vinyl treatment and I will decide on the center consle when I see how it looks with everything else done. The Recaro bolsters really hang over the storage bin between them so either way I will need to keep that custom piece as is, maybe it get covered.
