I just want to reiterate what a GREAT event this was. Rusty, Scott, Sam (and all the rest) worked extremely hard and deserve all of the praise they get.
I also wanted to share a link for those of you that participated in the AutoX today. the results can be found here: http://teamtac.org/archive/2008/autox/TVR3/final.html Finally, it was great to put faces with names and meet all that were here. Thsi was truly an event that exceeded expectations in every way! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) -- Jason |

I'll get pictures downloaded soon. I've got a little catching up to do here at home and at work too. From a totally unbiased perspective, I thought it was GREAT. There were several surprises and challenges- and a little bent metal. At todays autocross, Suzie (Howard's car- now owned by Jeff Duncan from Texas), lunched her transmission. Rusty somehow was able to provide a spare (talk about a parts stash!), and Brett and his bud John Griffin replaced it in the parking lot.
They also had to "replace" a cracked shift bushing at the gas stop just before the tour route using duct tape and zip-ties- in Brett's 914, the aleged "Rescue car". I beleive it was the sponsors that stole the show. It was AMAZING. I'm taking all my hats off to you! Of course it is the people that press the accelerator. Having Rick and Bill drive all the way from Minnesota and Wisconsin with those awesome rods truley helped enrgize everyone- well, that and the fact that they are both WIRED. I guess that shouldn't surprise me. The Texas contingent brought a different drawel to town, and even ate our Alabama Bar-B-Que! Mighty sportin' of 'em. Thanks Clay and Bety, Jeff, Mike, Travis and Robin for taking such a long trip and adding to the fun! Next time, the tech quiz should be written by a 914-4 owner, to achieve a distribution of model specific questions which is more equal to the distribution of 914-4 v. 914-6 models. Thanks of course to the closer folks from southern Alabama (enjoyed your company on the tour Kelvin), and from Mississippi (hey Tommy) and Tennessee and Gorgia (Al, John(s), Jay, Don, Jeff. Les. Lewis, Rick- and whoever elso I should remember) and North Carolina (Bob, Nadine, and Huey). Extra thanks for Chris Foley's personal auto-cross instruction (my best time- the last run- was about 65.8), but first timer Jason blew that away with 62 something. Of course more experienced drivers had significantly better times. Also thanks to Doug Leggins for upping the ante. You can't look at his car without being motivated to try to emulate it. I promise- many pictures soon. I gotta unpack my truck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

When I left I was hoping my 6th run might hold up but I knew there were a few places on the course that I hadn't quite sorted out. We were pretty much "neck and neck" the whole time, and I'd say the two cars are evenly matched despite carbs vs. FI. Scott, Thanks for letting me play with your car! I haven't AXed in a few years and that was a lot of fun! |

Fellow Ramblers,
It was great to meet everybody this weekend! I hope that all our travellers arrive home safe and sound. For those who departed on Sunday morning, you missed a great autocross! All drivers got a total of 12 runs. Even the newbies were able to really knock down their times because of great instructor support. We did have a bit of drama - but we scared up a transmission for Duncan's car, Brett and John got it installed, and Duncan was able to leave for his trip to Birmingham on time! Thank you to everyone who came out and participated this year. It's the attendees that really set the tone for the events - please pat yourselves on the back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Also, if you received a door prize (and I think that EVERYONE received at least three), please take a moment and send an email or postcard to our supporting vendors. Let them know how much you appreciate what they do for us. I'll be happy to provide contact info for any of them. Just PM/email me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) my best to all, Rusty |

Here are Bill and John Grier's cars in front of the Marriott:
This pic shows pretty much every 914 entered in the car show on Friday. I count 21 there. A few other teeners were present during the weekend that didn't enter the show - including a locally owned, all original, white 2 liter that came by shortly after the judging ended. So there were about 24 or 25 914s at the event and 5 or 6 other Porsches. This "eggplant" car probably was the most unique factory (911) color at the RCR. Here's Bill B's Little Bastard: And The Alien 918: This is the 4 cylinder line-up at the car show. Scott Bradley allowed me the priviledge of driving his 2 liter (foreground) on the drive to Lynchburg Saturday and in the AX on Sunday: |

Thanks everyone, Had a great time , I was dissapointed I didn't get the 914 finished in time, next year. Thanks (I think) for the "major award" I look forward to briging it back next year. I asked John Jentz to bring it home for me as it was too heavy for my car. For those who offered advise and support I found out how to get the 912E into 5th gear ....lift up on the selector when accessing 5th.
Thanks again. |

I had an outrageous time and I’m already looking forward to next year! Thank you to everyone who put the ramble together and for all the sponsor support. It was real treat to put faces to names and an even better treat to spend time with such a great group of people. Here are a few pictures for everyone to enjoy. I also took about 5 hours of digital footage I'm editing for DVD. If anyone has any raw footage they would like to add please PM me.
