QC? What the hell is that? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I have heard rumors of some pistons being waaaay outta balance straight from the factory. What you should do is double check everything before using it. Go to a deli and have them weigh the pistons and print out a sticker that says how much it weighs |

Damn! I bought a set of Mahle pistons and they were 12 grams between the heaviest and the lightest. That's insane! The KBs I got were maybe 1.5 grams out. You have to check everything. If you trust someone elses QC then that's the part that will come back to bite you.

These days Mahle's suck pretty bad for balance. I consider a good set out of the box to be 8 grams out. I have seen up to 30!
None of the cylinders on todays market are worth a damn..thats why I bore stockers, they don't warp, don't leak and cool better! |

Jake, does it matter whether the cylinders to be bored out are Mahle or KS? They are pretty much the same right??

I don't think aircooled checks the pistons out before they ship them to you. They just told me that the cyls are usually the problem and that they have not had a problem with the pistons.

What ring gaps are people running with the 96mm KBs for a 2056?
For that matter what skirt clearance also? I was expecting to get this info with the pistons but got some generic american iron numbers instead. |
