Still in the process of working the kinks out of my rebuilt carbed motor but just got back from a spirited run with some long right hand curves and when I returned home there was oil pooling under the drivers side carb. I assume this was from the long right turns but where could it be coming from? The car was overfilled with oil but is has gotten back to normal levels.

do your head vent tubes run into the carbs directly?

Head vent tubes?? Good question - but I suspect there must be some vent that dumps into the engine bay. Could the motor haqve been too full of oil or can I close the vent?

There are head vent tubes in some heads.
Look just under and behind the intake manifold to see if you have a 10mm tube coming out of the head. If actually vents the valve cover rocker arm area. You may have just had a hose come loose...and they can spray quite a bit. If you have carbs...the head breathers will go into one of two typical places. They can be connected to a breather box, or connected directly to the intake air filter. Rich |
