I guess thats sort of funny, but pouring it in the wrong tank is not the dumbest thing I have ever read about cars...
how about the classic "if you take off your air filter hose and shove it in a bag of sand, it will polish you intake and spit it out the exhaust" real sad part is I'm not kidding |

I bought a 2007 Harley XL1200N Nightster last summer. I had it for 3 weeks when this happened. I stopped for gas on the way to work, and as I was pulling away from the pump it started chugging, not wanting to run, and puking smoke everywhere. Then it shut down and wouldn't refire. I thought the engine blew (only had 600 miles on it) and was paranoid the warrantee wouldn't cover it becasue I already did some work to it (stage one ECU download, pipes, and less restrictive intake). I got my free HOG membership tow back to my house, hopped in my Jeep, and got to work almost 2 hours late. I posted to the Harley forums, and commenced freaking out at work all day. My friends all ride RC51's, GSXR1000's, etc, so they were having a ball that my brand fricken new Harley already blew up. After a while I checked the forum again from work. Most of the posts told me how my dealer would probably screw me, a few said they shouldn't, and one wise soul, who I will forever owe a beer, said "are you sure you didn't put diesel in it?" In a crashing revelation, it all came back to me. I remembered that the pump I usually go to was being used, so I rode around to the other side. The side I rode around to is the only one that has a diesel pump, and I was just used to grabbing the handle on the right. It also happened to have a 92 octane sticker right next to it, just on the wrong side. I even remembered staring at the green handle while I was filling it, but was too tired to think anything of it. So I finally get off of work, set the unofficial land speed record for a stock 2000 Jeep Wrangler on 33's with stock gearing (roughly 90mph, gotta be a record), and get home to check on the bike. I pop the fuel cap, sniff, yep... diesel. Sigh a relief because I couldn't imagine how diesel could do anything worse than clog an injector, and get to work. After draining the diesel, I filled it up, and cranked the starter for a bit. After a few rough coughing smokey starts, it finally stays running, and after working the throttle and my neighbor's nerves, it finally clears up. The funny thing is it actually ran better after this, I think it lubed the top end or something and made it run quieter, lol.
The moral of the story is sometimes being an idiot works out okay. Just trying to spread hope..... |

High School days: Ran out of gas in an old VW bug loaded with 6-8 kids. One of the kids said "My house is right there, I'll be right back with gas". Sweet, comes back with can, drop it in, vroom! Start dropping other kids off, smoking like crazy. Yup, pre-mix for a 2 stroke weed wacker or something. Bug ran it though. Filled it up after the last drop off and it cleared right up.

I run mine on the crapiest, cheapest gas money can buy and it never makes a difference. |

The Porsche world is by no means immune to fluids getting into the wrong tank. In 1972 911's, Porsche relocated the oil tank in front of the rear wheel to improve the weight imbalance. In its new location, you couldn't fill the oil tank from the engine compartment so Porsche installed a filler door on the quarter panel. Well, in 1972 all the gas stations used to pump your gas for you. Apparently some attendants mistook the oil filler for the fuel filler and put gasoline in the oil tank.
Porsche abandoned the idea for 1973 models. |

This guy wasn't owned nearly as bad as Nick Sitko on the NSX forum: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98489 You want internet ownage? Check this one out: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=399203 Cliff notes version is some idiot named Charlie Wenzel advertised to sell a set of ring and pinion gears for his truck on pirate4x4.com (don't mess with those guys, btw). Another dude pops up and says that he sold them to him and then upped the price suddenly, but didn't send the gears. Classic bait and switch. Then they turned out to be used gears that he said were new. Then he refused to give refunds, behaved poorly, insulted board members, etc, and eventually the board turned on him in the most glorious display of web ownage I've ever seen. Public info was posted, I think parents were contacted if I remember, people in his area were ready to show up at his house armed, and everybody there now knows that you are NOT anonymous on the internet, lol. To this day, if you are defrauded online you were Wenzeled. The term Wenzeling also works for if you exact internet revenge on them. See below: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wenzeled Another classic that I can't find happened on jeepforum.com (or at least I think it was there). Some members girlfriend had some weirdo contact her on MySpace, she was nice to him online, and he took that to mean he could stalk her (later on several other victims came forward and helped with the damage). So he proceeded to harass, stalk, etc, and even after being contacted by email and phone by the chick's boyfriend refused to back off, and was incredibly rude about it. So the guy goes to the forum for advice, doesn't even ask for help, but he got it. Within 24 hours everybody on the forum, and a few hundred from other forums that got the link, knew his full name, address, phone number, business name and address, vehicle info including license plate, parent's names and addresses, etc. They even posted pictures of his house with his truck in front of it. The Wenzel wannabe posted something to the effect of "you'll never find me" thinking that he was perfectly safe and anonymous (he didn't know about the thread on jeepforum). So the next morning, he woke up to find an 8x10 picture of himself (pulled off of his photography businesses website) with "you'll never find me!" written on it, and taped to his front door. They pretty much rocked his world, and within 72 hours, they had a taped public apology via phone call to the victim, where the loser very literally cries, sobs, and begs for mercy. They had him reduced to nothing and in fear of his life and career in less than 3 days. Most of it within 2 days. Total pwnage, lol. To this day one of the most important things I've learned is that there is great power in the ability of an internet forum. Everybody has each others back, and a few of the members just might be private detectives, cops, lawyers, or just borderline psychos. edit: Now that I think about it I think the second one happened on a different forum and we just got the link to help out in the attack. |

Funny thing about the rest are.... Everyone is Brave 2,000 miles from the person they are talking to. I play Halo 3 on-line and some of the kids the way they talk makes me Cringe. When asked politly to monitor their vocabulary adults are present. The threats start, I'll kick your this and that your mom. I can't go online and play a game without somebody threatening me or just being irritating in general. It is kinda funny though to have some little pip-squeek wannabe gangster threatening me on Call of Duty when I personally own every weapon I'm carrying in the game, lol. Just once I'd like to let one of them run their mouths for half a game, and then calmly tell them their home address, just to hear their reaction, lol. |

You want internet ownage? Check this one out: Here's the Cliff notes on Nick Sitko: Page 1 – Spammer NSX_NICK tries to peddle his website by bragging he’s made a bunch of money and bought a NSX for $63k in cash. – Spammer gets exposed as owner of said website and his name is Nick Sitko. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=21 – NSX_NICK denies identity and address. Page 2 – NSX_NICK gets exposed for lying about paying in cash. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=52 – A Nick Sitko is found on South Carolina Sex Offenders website. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=48 Page 3 – Nick Sitko is found on familywatchdog.us http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showp...&postcount=115 – Thread starts to spread around the interweb. Page 4 – NSX_NICK attempts damage control still denies identity and address and the fact that he’s a pedo. He’s still claiming that he bought the NSX with $63K in a suitcase full of 20s. Page 5 – NSX_NICK lies some more against direct evidence. Page 6 – NSX_NICK lies some more while being a condescending douche, bragging about his income and new Porsche 911.
