Very nice work!
Who's engine bar and motor mounts are those - did you fab? I'm curious why you didn't use the stock engine mounting locations. I'm still undecided how to mount my V6. Keep up the good work. |

QUOTE That .25 inch makes the belt replacement doable... Hope to never have to change the belt. I got 132,000 miles out of the serpentine belt on the S10 Blazer. Does that make me lazy or frugal? Who's engine bar and motor mounts are those - did you fab? I'm curious why you didn't use the stock engine mounting locations. I made the engine bar out of a piece of 2" square tube, .18" wall thickness IIRC. The aluminum motor mounts are standard GM items (they call them "stands") and the black round pieces are standard corvette motor isolators. While fixing some mild hell hole rust I thought the original mounts (especially the right side) looked weak and didn't want to risk ripping them out with the new motor. Also wanted to reinforce the inside of the frame rails as they were pitted from years of battery acid raining down on them. To take the original mounts out, I drilled the spot welds, and gave a thin chisel a few wacks between the frame rail and the mount. They came out shockingly easy and if I kept them would have, at a minimum, re-welded them. |
