Congratulations Enrique! Glad to see she is almost home with you. Sounds good and looking nice. She sits low; I had mine low when first on the road but ended up raising it 1" for a better ride on our rough streets. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thanks guys and happy to hear from you. I'm hearing from Ben pretty regularly, so certainly in the home-stretch. When we spoke last week, we were 'a few weeks away', so perhaps in February or March - though as long as I have it before my birthday in April I'm ecstatic.

As of 2-days ago, brakes were finally sorted from my errors; New crush washers all around along with new-bleeders. As well, I sent MME the side-skirts and valences and I believe they will be in paint next week. Believe it or not, most of these very-nice parts (Thanks PMB) have been lying around or on-my-car for the last 10-years.... Time really flies. As for updates, I've very happy to see these photos from yesterday showing the powder-coated windshield trim. It in such a Flat / Satin texture that it seems to match the rubber on the trim of the vehicle - absolutely love the work and look. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

Just watched the video of the drive and wow, sure sounds good! More and more 914's are getting 3.6's which is very cool.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Starts me thinking maybe I should....

I'm not the guy to tell you to play it conservative - 'Buy the ticket, go to the concert, take the pill, kiss the girl.'

Do it - absolutely - do it now.

Hey all - Very happy to say, I'll be picking up my car in 1-week. While there's still some details I want to finish on my own (isn't there always?), looking at the photo album it is 98% percent there.

So, in about 1-week will fly to Portland, conduct a 'shakedown' on the car with Ben, apply the newly painted valences (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) and give everything a once over. Friday night, my girlfriend will meet me there before we make the 1,000 drive down to San Diego along the Coast.

Ahead of this and the various test-drives, Ben commented that the ride was 'tight' and good, but very-rough. Kidney-buster was the phrase I believe he used. Ahead of the 1,000 mile road-trip, I want to have an enjoyable first-trip and also, as I get my legs under me with the car and begin to adapt to myself, we agreed the starting baseline should be a sort of 'Performance-Plus' setup. Somewhat race, somewhat stock, enjoyable for long-drives. Bilsteins all around, new bushings all around, front sway bar, and stock rear-springs with a lower than stock ride-height. As such, sharing a few photos of that swap out.

More to come as this gets wrapped!

How exciting that is going to be. Did you swap in rubber bushings? Cheers, Michael (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Very exciting! All new bushings all around, as well as new ball joints and springs. I understand that everything was solid, just not as forgiving in regard to your typical pot-hole.

Michael, can’t wait! Will you be a the NorCal 914 event?

Your car looks fabulous. I met Ben when he drove here for the WCR nice guy ! BTW
You taking 101 S through Brookings Oregon on the coast ?
It’s about 6 hours from Portland. If so maybe you could stop by .
Drive safe and make sure those windshield wipers are working . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

@sb914 - Thank-you-Thank-you.

I'm open to that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . My girlfriend will be flying in and we should head down mid-morning Tuesday. Right now, now official route - except that I 100% don't want to be on the 5FWY the entire time.

By the end of this thread, I swear - I'm going to sound like the Martin Mid-Engine fan-club. I genuinely wish more mechanics / shops / providers were like Ben. I can always get in contact with him one way or another. I've had constant status updates including a GooglePhotos account with more-than-enough photos. Billing is always clear with a breakdown of cost, labor, and notes about the work and suggestions for future mods. He has the confidence, grit and mechanical knowledge to tackle it alll. I wouldn't hesitate in a second to send him another car / do it all over again.

As for windshield wipers; Done and done! As well as the addition of a passenger-side mirror to match the Drivers side. As it so happens, I actually have OEM mirrors for both sides, using these repro's for now. As well, including additional photos of the new-carpeting for the firewall. I wasn't so happy with the black-felt carpet (originally I wanted to find an original-german carpet kit) and wanted to also take this opportunity to clean it up now that the ECU wiring is final. Ben recommended a two-tone approach anyway, and I can leave it, add a modified backpad, or convert all to grey in the future. Also, took this chance to ask him to add the black vinyl strips that hide the sound-deadening.

I love the look. The only downside? Where I was thinking about it previously, I now NEED new seats. As much as I've always loved the current ones, I don't think they do the car justice. Now with flares, the engine, etc. - they seem like a holdover.. I'm thinking the LeMans seats from GTS Classics. At minimum, something with larger bolsters. Because of this, we added a temporary simple set of lap belts. Probably will go with four-point or a more modern approach once I have the car - that'll be a fun weekend project.

@RiqueMar - Enrique, Yes we will be at the Nor Cal 914 Fest. I hope it is a good showing of 914s. I have a few items on my "to do" list prior to the event but nothing that would keep me from attending. You car is looking terrific. Michael (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@Cairo94507 - Hey-Hey-Hey, excited! I've been dormant for a while so looking forward to it and seeing everyone.

- - - - - -

Sharing with the group some of the newest photos. Things are coming together so well and I cannot wait until next-week. Waiting on a few interior bits that we didn't know were missing (it always happens) but the interior is effectively done for now. I'll most likely be changing out the seats, as well as entertaining the thought of switching the carpet to full-grey. I'm considering a different wheel (four-spoke VDM with wood or leather) but thats later. Same probably goes for the dashboard and 'A' and 'B' pillars - maybe a leather or alcantera wrap. Very happy for now!

As with the interior, engine bay is also done now that the fan is installed. One of my 'weekend' projects, I'de like to find a newer fan that can move more air-volume. I'm one of those people that likes to have the top off as much as possible. With a good heating system, it's the best! Ben asked about the portion underneath the mesh-grills and painting them satin. I might also do the same with the small 'colored rectangles' that are on either side of the engine lid, or wrap with vinyl, but leaving it for now.

Wrapping up for today - I can't stop staring at the photos. Excellent work, and these photos also show the beauty of Signal Orange and how it 'changes' from angle-to-angle. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)
