Ha! I know where that car came from. My buddy Ron sold it at the last Porsche swap here in Hershey. He got $20K for it. There are a lot of savvy buyers, but there are enough un-savvy buyers that would think this car is great (not me). There are some rich idiots that buy stuff at the swap and at BJ. Mike, I'll check out the car and we can compare notes.... :shades2: -- Rob Hi. New to 914 world forum. Found this thread in a recent search, and since I am now the owner of the car featured in the discussion, I thought some might have interest in its history in the intervening 10 years. The car sold at the 2008 Las Vegas auction for 10K, 11K with commission. I bought it from the auction winner in 2011 for 12K. Since then, it has had a good life and further restoration and modifications. Now is entirely rust free (had rust around jack ports, in passenger side threshold, battery support tray, scattered elsewhere). Exterior has been modified with euro spec lenses front and back, rear Porsche reflector and new lettering on engine grille, and electric windshield washer. Interior had installation of new German loop carpet more like original, anodized aluminum thresholds and carpet strips, new German speakers in original grilles, new door panels, new dash metal and vinyl, leather covered original steering wheel, new sun visors, vintage Blaupunct Frankfurt radio with electric antenna, restoration of original center console, and switch out with metal instrument cluster surround and gauges with silver center button from a 74; soon will have custom combo fuel and oil pressure gauge in dash cluster and numerical oil temperature gauge in center console. Mechanical mods include engine rebuild to 2056 with Raby 9590 cam kit, rebuilt shift linkage and pedal cluster, "turbo" tie rods, new rear springs and new Konis on all four corners, front anti-sway bar, and up-sized master cylinder with BMW 320 front brake upgrade. Would be happy to post pics if anyone interested. Marc |
