I don't know on the engine until I get a COA. In looking at the car I would be surprised if this engine has been changed. Doesn't look like it's even been out o the car? If it has it was a long time ago. SO I am very optimistic that this s all numbers matching. NOt sure if the LE front valance is a stock or a replacement. It does have a crack in it either way. I'll pull it off tonight to see. Feeling good about it today. I think a restore is in my future. Maybe not a ful blown but I think I will get it back to looking like an LE before I do anything with it? It's all up in the air though

Nice score, Jamie. Look on jeff Bowlsbys site for the details on the LE spoiler as they are different from the aftermarket ones. Fiberglass is easy to repair! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)

Sweeeet find!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) If the valance is original repair it. The OEM one have a different angle on the sides. If it just cracked it should be a easy repair.

How do I go about getting a COA from Porsche?
I also need to replace the front fender. What is the best way to do it? I've got a car I can cut one off of. Where do I want to cut to have what I need for the new one? I will be having someone else put the new fender on. I do not have the welding ability to do it at this point. I also want it done right.

Going to start to strip it down this weekend. Pull all the bumpers, Valances & Rockers. I'll get them media blasted (if that is the best way to go). Depending on how soon I am going to do bodywork I may pull the wheels to prep for Phoenix Red along with the other pieces. Once the rockers are off I'll have a better idea of the rust damage there. Jack posts seemed solid but the passenger side I could tell had build up(road crap) around it.

Top dash will need recovered or replaced with a good one. The seats need redone along with center cushion. Door panels are uncut & perfect (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . Rest of the dash is excellent. All gages are working & look great. All knobs on the dash are pristine along with the working stock Blaupunk radio (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . The carpet is a redish color & I'm asuming was replaced from stock (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) . Gas pedal wobbles with your foot pushing on it?
Front bumper top is wavy while the rear has the issues by the liscence late lights. Thats what I can think of now anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) . I am thinking resto now & I must be losing it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Jamie...

You need to fix your signature... it says "Only one 914". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

Congrats on the car!

Point taken (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) I'll do it right now

I also just called Porsche & ordered my Certificate of Authenticity. Of course I won't get it for 4-6 weeks but oh well. I also was able to get the title transfered to my name this morning along with new tags. Guess I'll have to take it for a spin tonight (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

If you check out my "Green machine" progress thread you see me change the passenger front fender next week. There's a thread around here that shows Chris at CFR butt weld new fenders on. I'll have to drill the whole thing off due to damage. It's just a matter of drilling out one heck of alot of spot welds and then welding it back on. When you open the hood you can see the seam. Then look behind the front tire, there's some more there. The hard part is around the cowl and window pillar.

How do you tell if a '74 is an LE? I have a parts car that is a '74 2.0 with center console, lettering on the side, no vinyl on the sail panels, factory sway bars, etc. It is lime green...The PO rear-ended a car, but besides some front end damage it is really straight...and it really, truly has absolutely no rust.

I'll feel guilty if I've been swiping parts off rare car to keep my '75 on the road...

Couple easy things to check. Does it have sway bars? If you can feel under the rear quarter where the lower vinyl piece would go can you feel holes. If it is an LE there are no holes. So if you can feel where they filled the holes that is an indication. Also the LE has 2 extra metal pieces up front that attatch to the front LE valance. These sit close to the front of the suspension behind the front bumper. Check out Jeff's link http://members.rennlist.com/914_canam/

Congratulations. That is another early one. Funny thing the earliest ones are all creamsicles. Original engine should be near GA012400 but may be in the 12300's. What is the body #?

I hope the enigne is th original. You have me worried now. Guess I won't know until the COA comes in the mail. Here are some pics of the rust around the battery tray. Also I pulled the rocker on one side. Lots of orange underneath (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Also a pic of the rust in the rear trunk (not to bad)

Very cool Rob! Hey here are a few pics of my front spoiler. I don't think it is a OE one but got replaced at some point. Aren't there supposed to be some numbers on the backside?

Sorry Not. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The OE piece was resin injected and has destictive ridges (2 per side)
where it seems they shot into the mold.
Ill see If I can find a pic.
