Took a bunch of parts over to the shop today and to see the progress. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. 98% of the welding is done and it will go to the blasters in about a week. Then final paint prep and then sprayed

The Engman kit is in. This is the 1st Engman they have done (they have done over 20 sets of Steel Flares) and they really liked it.

And upon further evaluation #673 will become my GT Recreation and #1724 will be the street car.

This was based on with all the welding and stiffening that has been done #673 will be the stronger car. So it will get the 2.8 Twin-Plug and all the Real GT bits.

#1724 as it is more original with no metal being replaced will be the Street 914-6.

Hi Tom
I noticed that your C of A says build date 4/70 but your Vin is 422 earlier than one of mine and my build date is 3 / 70 !!!! (car # 1095) then I see that your door sticker says 2 / 70. I know of at least one other case of incorrect factory info .
I guess C of A's aint the last word now are they ?
Is this the car from Florida that came with a load of GT parts ? 906 oil cooler etc. etc. ?
I wanted that package.
Hey fill me in on the VIN sticker repro deal.
I have my original but it's on the door jamb that was replaced .
If a repro can be done well I don't have to risk trying to move my original to the new jamb.
Please write when you have a chance.
Thank you

TC it looks like they removed the center tunnel, did they?

and teh cross brace is new or removed?

I have to remove both on my 914 to get the floors clean enough for my taste to por-15 in there.

As it sits now it is just light surface, but that will change fast into my floors rotting from the center tunnel out unless taken care of.

Can you ask them how much that job sucked? I asked around this board and nobody answered.

Rory,
CoA's (Certificate of Authenticity for those noobies) are close to worthless and the 1 for this car is an older one when they used to give you more info.

No this is not the car that came with all the GT parts (that is #1724, that I'm also re-doing) but I made the Executive decision that this car will get the GT parts.

I will send you a pm about the door jam compliance sticker. You will never get the old one off in one piece.

No the Center Tunnel was not removed. The cross brace is new to this car (it came out of a donor car)

Removing the crossbrace and replacing it is fairly easy, I've done a couple.

Who's doing the work for you? That looks really good so far.
Are you planning on running HSR? I haven't been to one of their events in years. How is participation lately?

Hi Chad,
Stratton Motorsports in Orlando is doing all the Welding & Paint. I will re-assemble the car.

I really don't know what I will do will the car, but probably not HSR - with the 2.8 Twin-Plug I would be put in the catagory with cars that will kick the snot out of this car. Plus you can't use Electro-motive crank-fire igntion which this car will have.

Well, today I worked on the A-Arms. Wire-wheeled and sand-blasted them, then into the Glass-bead cabinet. Then primered & painted them.

Also I hate it when you know that you have a part and can't find it. I knew I had another 912 Hockey Puck Horn Button, but I was on my 4th seach thru the garage when I finally found the Bugger. Now it's safe.
