The van tries to pull nicely. It acts like a set of trigger points going out. Under load it bucks lightly like it is trying. Right now it just DIES when it sees any kind of grade. It drops speed like I pulled a parachute. The tranny has very firm upshifts from 1-2 and 3-4. It actually hits 4th pretty hard.

Catalytic converter is PLUGGED up. It gets replaced tomorrow morning at 8am.

I had someone who works on them drive it... he said it had HALF the power it should have.

Brad,
I have had low power problems with FI cars when the fuel filter was clogged/old.
They are cheap and might help after the cat has been changed.
Just a thought.

Dave,

Use the PayPal donate and send some gas money my way. I'll use my PayPal business card for the trip and keep all the gas reciepts.

Send 300$ or so.. I 'll need to pay for the CAT and Flowmaster.

The arrival of the van may be kinda emotional.

We all might need a Costco box of kleenexes, JP. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Picked it up from the muffler shop.. runs a little better, but not much. I still think the cam timing is off even though it shows no codes. Everything I read says that if the timing is off it will throw a code.. but nada.

Brad JP decided to postpone until next weekend, He figured that would give you more time to get the van done.
See you next weekend.

Wow -- it runs and had gauges now? Most excellent -- and the drive will be much easier on you -- good luck on the trip!

I wish I could see the van drive off on its way to its final destination. Since I cannot, I will drink a beer in honor of the "Van" saga, in honor of all those who put money towards the purchase, in honor of Brad Roberts for putting his time and efforts in, and in honor of Dave and his family who will finally be able to take advantage of the mobility (aka, dragging Dave's heavy ass wheel chair!)

Cheers all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)
