Guys -

I'm just using my original topic started back when I joined 914world to upload some of my 2009-10 condition & resto evaluation pix for the" trio" to review - hopefully to get my resto going again in their shops (it never was meant to be a "me doing it at home project" - except some small parts & details).

>>>> So to continue with pix for Andy, Kent & Jim ....

Right Long with Wiring - not sure what this wire was for, but I think that it was a Hans fix for something - continued:

> UPDATE - OK I think that this is the wiring for the Fuel Pump Relocation to the Front Steering Rack Niche, per the Porsche TSB that Hans did after I Vapor Locked for 3 hours out at Blythe CA on the way back from a HOT August `77 or `78 water skiing trip with the guys. ----v

^ the odd stuff stuck on parts is just some plastic sheeting that was covering the car years ago that stuck, but not a big deal since the paint will all be stripped for rustoration/repairs/etc. & repaint back to the original L80E.

I kinda hate to ask this question, but....

How important is it for you to have this particular car? There are enough issues that I can see that you would be financially better off getting another 914 versus trying to repair this one.

That said, everything is fixable if you have the time and money.

I would agree with Dave here but I seem to recall that this is a 914S isn’t it? Definitely worth throwing some money at. I was convinced they didn’t even exist but I’m no subject matter expert like the OP. Here I’ll prove it. I vote for a complete frame off restoration. See!

But then there’s a really good idea. Why not have the community help show you which direction to go in. Just start a Poll! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Good luck!

Judging by Cairo's (Michael) 6's build thread, the plan is to locate nos pieces for every panel of the car and build up from the center tunnel — unless that has perhaps a dent or ding in which case it too would be nos. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That's a solid plan, but I have to admit, my car was no where near this bad to start with. I had minor rust on my chassis. Accident damage was also minor, with poor repairs when these cars were worth nothing. That was why we replaced most of the panels.

I agree with Dave, look for another chassis and save yourself lots of grief and money. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
