i may be needing one of these pretty soon. are they still available? do you know what the sensor is off of? There has to be a pigtail that will fit it.

They are still available. I'm having more wheels machined right now, so they're a couple weeks out. But they are still available.

The sensor is from a Subaru. I would LOVE to find a connector for it, but haven't been able to so far. If you can find one, let me know.

I was unable to use Mark's trigger wheel as it is incompatible with SDS at this point in time. There may be a solution out there but for the sake of expediency, I went with a Hall Sensor set up from SDS. Oh, and I am the Rob of which he speaks...

My plans are to utilize it w/ a Ford /4 EDIS setup, but thats getting a little ahead of myself. Right now Im working to mock up my oil cooling configuration and the desire is to go full-flow but the current mount position for the sensor obstructs that ability.
If Mark was doing the heavy lifting for you Rob I was happy to benifit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
But Im fully capable of doing the trailblazing.

I finally found connectors for this. So these are now available either with a crimped pigtail, or unwired. The unwired version would be for people who are constructing their own wiring harness and want to avoid a splice.

NOTE: These need an Open Barrel Crimp Tool (picture below, NAPA P/N 726603). They are widely available and are $45 or less. This tool and the connectors that go with them are the best wiring crimp for automotive wiring.

Mine came today, had a few minutes free so put it on. Had an issue with an oil galley plug in the way. A few seconds with a sanding wheel put it right.

So I'm thinking the dished side goes in, and I should set the sensor on the 9th tooth from the missing one, at TDC. Does it make a difference if the tooth is centered on the face of the sensor, or should it be closer to one edge or the other? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Great product, I have been looking for at trigger wheel for at type 4 enginge for a long time! Do you know if its possible to use this with an upright porsche cooling conversion? Will it fit behind the pulley?

Inquiring minds want to know! Post here so we can all see, I for one will be putting a 1.8 in my Ghia soon. I didn't leave any room for the spacer when I made my pulley, but it's really just a matter of where the alternator pulley sits. If you are making your own alt stand & sheet metal bits it can be made to work. I was planning on buying the DTM, so really would like to know if it can line up. TIA!

Okay, finally had a few minutes to try all this out. I still have to make a final sensor to pulley clearance check once the new batch of sensors comes in later today. But it looks like this will all work.

This is stock DTM for reference.

Here is the trigger wheel installed just behind the unmodified DTM crank pulley.

This pushes the unmodified crank pulley out ~2.5mm, so a simple washer is installed behind the alternator pulley to space it out ~2.5mm.

Here is the overview of the whole setup installed. Belt geometry is unchanged.

I'll make a final check this afternoon and confirm that the sensor doesn't foul the crank pulley.

Here's the HALL sensor mount that I used on Rob's engine. It's got magnets epoxied into a stock A/C pulley. The plate mounts securely to the oil cooler studs. Something similar could be used to mount a VR sensor (the one in the first post of this thread).

Sensor is a tight fit. I expect it will work fine, but there is a slight possibility that it won't read the teeth.
