Gah, swepco (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

To get an idea of my route, my zip is 17078. Put that in the googleator and see what pops up. It is north, west, run out of road (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Funny thing about that route....60 years ago there used to be a car ferry service between Cobourg, On and Rochester, NY

http://www.cobourghistory.ca/ferry.htm

That google maps route is correct on this end and real easy to find. Once you turn on the last road, CT. RD. 65, it is exactly 10Km or 6.2 miles to my driveway.

Toronto guys your route is different because it's about 8Km shorter up the 115.

QUOTE(swl @ Sep 29 2009, 06:03 PM) *

good question about the gear oil. Mark you had a swepco guy out for the last aircooled meet. Any chance you can line him up? I've had no luck what so ever finding a retailer in my neck of the woods.

Wobbletop - don't sweat the M8 bit for the weekend. I have one and I assume that many of the other guys will too. You'll need one sooner or later though. I assume that you are still driving and dropping on site?

Since it looks like sorta nice weather on Saturday, my plan was to drive the car and drop the trans when I get there. Mark mentioned that I should try to drop the trans and just bring it, but as I have not done this before on this car I wouldn't mind at least another pair of hands helping out. If that's not preferred, I can still try to drop the trans by myself.

Is there a schedule for the Saturday? Or should I just try to be there as soon as I can so I have more time to drop it? When is everyone else arriving?

I just talked to the Swepco guy (Steve C) and he has 5 gallons of the Swepco 201 80w90 in stock. Price is $75 delivered or $60 picked up (taxes included).

I'm going to pick up a couple gallons for myself. Does anyone else want me to pick some up? Since the trans takes about 1.5 gallon, maybe I can share with someone.

Let me know as soon as possible. I'd like to pick up the oil no later than Thursday night, so please reply by Thursday morning.

Thanks,
Walter

email SWL about the swepco!
I have some (2 jugs) but I realized I need enough for my buddy's trans. Were doing a R&R (not on Saturday) on his 911 and it has to be back in by the first of next week.

Tell Steve what we're doing, he knows me and might come up for a demo.

I have no problem with an engine drop just thought it would be a super busy day for you. I will open the shop real early (I'm up by 6am) and would like that you come a bit early so your not still pulling when the Doc wants to start. I have stands and tools, but my jack looses pressure slowly.
I don't have a lift.

I dont drop the engine, I drop the trans with the engine in the car. Fast and easy.
To be a help, remove the HEs and muffler, starter, and CVs, shift rods from the tranny. The rest I can do in about 5 min.

Do you need gaskets and cone screws? I may have some exhaust hardware and gaskets, but no guarantee.

If there are any banks still operating in the USA they might be able to help you. Or you could take your Loonies to a post office and buy a USD postal money order to take home with you. You picked a god time to come up, the dollar is currently very close to par with the USD.

If you go back via buffalo the duty free shops (canadian side) have money exchange I believe 24hrs.
I will have USD.
A Canada Post or bank money order in USD would also work.

That's OK for the fee, but for any parts most will only have our funny money. I can get USD but only on Saturday AM or Monday.
Don't think the Doc want's Paypal...although that could make things easier for some here.
