So I am now planning to be participating instead of just watching.

What's the best way to get cash to Dr. Evil? Paypal?

I'd like to be one of those guys that bring the whole car and drop and reinstall the transmission in the same day if possible. Does that sound reasonable? Anyone else doing that?

I've finally got the shift head off the rod. Is everything going to be this difficult? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Dr. Evil did you want to bring up that CIS as well and we can work out a price?

Hey Wobble,
Are you needing the 3.0 set up exactly? I ask because I have a 2.4 set up that I can sell, but I forgot that my Corvair engine is a 3.1 and I was going to convert it to CIS in the future. Sorry for the tease. I have way too many plans, I tend to forget why I have some things.

For payment, ya'll can just pay when you get there. Unless, I cant cross the boarder with X amount of CA loonies.

For drop and install, you will need other parts: cone screws, gaskets. I have and will bring.

I have a few seal kits on order that should be here this week, but I have not been contacted by anyone about exact parts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

No problem. I'll keep looking. This would be for a future project for me as well. Is the 2.4 compatible with the 3.0? I would be using it to convert to megasquirt.

Or maybe I can try to get one of these...

How do I know what parts I need before I tear it down? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

The engine size ascribed to the CIS system is more in regards to the fuel distributor and injectors. You need to flow more fuel for a 3.0 than a 2.4. Thus, for a MS set up where you use a throttle body to meter air/fuel, and MS to run the fuel amount a 2.4 would work just fine.

For the trans, if you take it apart, you need a seal kit. That is a certain. The other parts are not sure.

I will be watching this post from Moncton, tranny sitting on a bench just crying for me to go. I can't, and would have loved to attend and learn, and to rebuild a tranny with the Dr. himself and yes I would have brought lobster, live and delicious. All is not lost in my little world however, I will be attending a "fall drive" this Sunday, my first ever event with other Porsche's, will take lots of pics and hope to represent the 914 clan well. Those taking part in the Dr.'s clinic please pay attention!! We will be calling on you in the future for help.

Ian, I can get you set up on Sat and you can leave Sat night if you like. It will be a small, intimate clinic as the others had been about 12-15 builders. C'mon. Or, at least ship the lobster (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Hey guys I'll be driving up Saturday morning. What is a good target time to arrive?

Mike I can only stay the day Saturday - will that be enough time to open, inspect and close? I don't think there is anything wrong with my unit but I want to get confident about opening it up should it become necessary in the future.

Ok I`m set.

Mike galloway is coming, Yarko Matkiwsky already said he`s in and I just sent him a reminder.

How many benches are needed? I have two 12' benches, I can clear cover my saw and that's a huge bench. I have a couple of portable benches and then sawhorses and 4x8' sheets of heavy particle board.

What else?
What time do we start?
Potluck or byo lunch?

Mike we have a real nice, new spare bedroom for you or if you like roughing it you can sleep in my '67bus in the (heated) shop.
When are you coming?

My shop has good light, but it might be wise to have a trouble light in your tool kits.

Directions to my house DO NOT TRUST YOUR GPS! only one has got it right so far. Use this google map change it to your start point and print it out.
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=....252197&z=9
(Direction note Ganaraska Road and Regionial Road #9 is the same road)

I'll see what I can bring for a pot-luck.
I have to find a good spot to meet Mike in Burlington, then he can follow me up. I'm planning on taking Thurs & Friday off. Thurs to do prep, and Friday to get there early as well as to guide Mike.
Maybe I'll bring some brakes up so that we have something else to chat about. I'll have some tables of my own. I'll probably sleep in my van, so that should help out.

If Mike takes the spare room I will have an extra bed in the bus. I do have a couple of tents and air mattresses that I could pop-up but it's getting chilly....I do have arctic (-40C) sleeping bags.
couch and floor space.....

Wobble pop is OK, but I'll be finding you a place to sleep and taking your keys if you pass your/the limit.

I will be there when ever Dave is ready. Early is good for me so I have time to BS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Since we have so few people, your benches will be fine. We dont need to go over board.

Steve, we will do it in a day for you.....it will cost you extra (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Just kidding.

Mark, we can start when ever. I am not a morning person so closer to 10am is my choice, but I am here for you guys so you all figure it out.

I will gladly accept the guest room (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I meant that I wanted the bed in the guest room.

I like beer with less hops, and whiskey and scotch.

I want to get there anytime between 4-8pm.

Doc has the spare room, bus and a few couches (chesterfields) will be up for grabs.

Anyone have a portable BBQ?
I only have the small indoor BBQ and it only does about 4 people. (8 medium size burgers)

The wife is making a big pot of chilli. she will make it mild and have hot stuff on the side.
