Always thought this was interesting....
Very Neat,I haven't seen that treatment before now. At the time,the 'new"designers were transitioning away from the "headlamp sponson"look that had prevailed for the previous 20 yrs. Hence the truncated headlamp turnsignal of the 914. We enjoy the look today,but in '69, it was like,so different. The simplicity of the slab-sided spline curves provide a surface on which to sculpt some detail,to make room for coolers and larger rubber. |
